Rickenbacker Guitars

1973 Rickenbacker 4001 (serial number MF---- dates to June 1973) bass with most of the highly sought-after early Rickenbacker features, including checkerboard binding, "wavy" Grover Imperial tuners (still used on Rickenbackers as late as 1973 but rare) and "toaster" neck pickup. Comes with original hardshell case.  It's getting harder and harder to find older Ricks with these features as the ones that are out there are being snagged up and kept!  This bass pretty much sat in the case unplayed for the last 20 years!  Truss rods recently replaced (old truss rods will be included) as the old truss rods were worn--common with old Ricks due to the soft metal they used in manufacturing the truss rods in this period.  Just back from a pro setup with a fresh set of strings--sounds and plays great!  Both pickups are still strong.  Replacement bridge pickup cover (ashtray)  and 2 of the bridge screws from PicoftheRick.  Some fret wear as expected for a bass its age, fretboard still nice and shiney, and the neck (with the exception of a few nicks) shows little wear.  Has nicks, scratches, dings and buckle and other wear expected for a bass of this age.  There is a wear spot, common on older Ricks, about the size of a fist (my fist which is neither the size of a baby's fist nor that of Andre the Giant's) that was touched up by a prior owner with black paint (see photo).  They matched up the colors fairly well.  A little oxidation on the body hardware.  A few small yellow age spots and a light 1" crease (barely shows in in closeup pic) on the pickguard by the toaster pickup.  Original case is has a few small nicks in the tolex but is overall in excellent condition with a nice interior and all latches working.  Current era Rickenbacker basses often sell used for 2K and more on here and this one is about 1000 times cooler (and a much better long-term investment) at a price of only 20% more starting bid and 30% more buy it now--what a steal!  A great deal on an amazing vintage 4001!  Buy it now!!! Shipping is 60 dollars with insurance included to the lower 48 states.  Local pickup is fine but item must still be paid for within 1 week and picked up within 1 week of payment.  Shipping costs on a case-by-case basis for the non-continental US (Alaska HI).   I will not ship this item without insurance.  For purchases paid for with Paypal I will take the item to my shippers within 2 business days of payment.   EBAY now requires that sellers specify a handling time. I DO take my items to my shippers within 2 business of receiving payment but the item does not always ship out the same day I drop it off as they are very busy and there can be complications that dleay shipping.  EBAY also now requires sellers to specify return policy and there are only TWO choices--returns accepted or NO returns!  I chose no returns as I am not selling my items on a trial basis.  However, should an item be proven to be significantly not as described I will consider taking a return if contacted within 24 hours of buyer receiveing item.  For payments made with e-check will wait for payment to consolidate in bank before shipping.  Please bid only if you are certain you will be able to pay for this item and do so within 1 week.  Local pickup is OK but item must be paid for within one week and picked up within 1 weeks of payment unless other arrangements are made prior to end of listing. International shipping rates are 90 dollars to Canada, 300 dollars to Europe/uk and 500 dollars to Asia/Japan/Australia.   My overseas international shipping is done only through UPS express air, which usually gets the item to its destination in less than a week. I will not use any other shipping method so please do not ask. I also will only ship items fully insured for the full value the item sells for, so the buyer will be responsible for paying any customs/duty fees for the full sale value. Again this is the only way I will ship, so please do not ask me to do otherwise.
