Hello. Up for sale is a 1982 Rickenbacker 340 guitar in Jetglo with the original case. The serial number starts with VC.
Black Ricks are cool guitars! And 340's are fairly uncommon as far as Ricks go. They were officially discontinued some time ago by Rickenbacker.
This one has been played quite a bit and shows wear and tear but overall is in very good condition. It almost has a relic vibe! There are plenty of nicks and dings and some slight arm wear on the edge of the body. The truss rod cover has a few minor cracks at the corner and two of the mounting screws are not the original ones. They are old and are close to the original style though.
The guitar had Grover tuners installed. I don't know what tuners these guitars used in 1982. When you take off one of the tuners you can see a tuners screw hole opposite to the side of the base where the Grover mounting screw goes. It looks like there is an original tuner screw hole that is filled and touched up for each tuner. This is hard to see but if you hold it up to the light it can be seen. Unfortunately, during the tuner installation the front washers were countersunk a bit into the front of the headstock. I was going to add another washer below it but I never got around to it.
There is moderate fret wear on the lower frets of this guitar. I believe it was strung with flat wounds most of its life. That's what is on there now. It plays well and the guitar sounds good. The neck is straight and the truss rods are intact and work.
The guitar has the original wood rectangular case that is a little beat up but works well. These are so much cooler than the plastic Rick cases.
So there you have it. This guitar looks more like a vintage Rick than the new perfect looking Rick guitars!
Paypal will work for payment. Shipping is $60 via UPS ground in the lower 48 USA. All other shipping is likely higher cost.
I'll post some more pics in the next few days!
