4003 Rickenbacker Fretless Bass - 2006 / Black

Greetings!

You are bidding on a used but not abused 4003 Rickenbacker Fretless Bass made in 2006.  This thing plays like a champ!  The action is super-low with no annoying buzzing.  The neck is straight and both truss-rods turn easily (I tweaked it when I first purchased it and haven't had to touch them since).  I replaced the stock white plastic pickguard with a super-sexy looking smoked-mirror finish pickguard that really "POPS" up on the stage.  From a distance it looks clear or black but it is actually a mirror and really reflects the light beautifully.  I included the stock pickguard in case you want to go back to "blah".  I also removed the bridge pickup cover (also included) because I like to play right over the bridge pickup and it was getting in the way.  It's not hard to re-install but a lot of players don't like it either, so I left it off.  All in all, this thing is everything that you wanted from a Rick but FRETLESS! It still has that classic Rickenbacker tone that you just can't get unless it's a RIck.  The bridge pickup's tone knob is a push/pull pot that when pulled into the up position will allow the pickup to sound just like a vintage with that bass cut that actually annoyed most people but is a neat effect when you want to drop the bass out of your tone for a bit of drama.  The neck has a hard finish (like all Ricks) and because of this feature, you really get that fretless "mwah" sound that everyone loves!  There is also the cool feature "Rick-O-Sound" where a stereo guitar cable can be plugged into the bass to allow the signal from the neck and bridge pickup to be split and sent to two different amplifiers.  Very versatile!

As for the bad stuff (none of which affect the playing):

• There are a couple of cases of "belt-buckle rash" on the back of the body


• There is a spot in the finish right above the bridge pickup where my thumb nail gouged through


• There is some slight pitting in the finish on the front of the body where my wrist band buttons were hitting it


• The case has a "button" missing from the bottom where it was ripped off from sliding the case out of a truck and the other "button" has a crack around it

These blemishes are your basic signs of a well-played bass and in no way take away the tone or playability of the instrument.  I have always taken care of this bass and have never had any functional issues from it.  Just think of it like a working-man's bass that you don't have to get upset over when you scratch it.  I've already done that for you!
