Rickenbacker Guitars

This is a time capsule that is around 75 years old and is an excellent example of what many believe to be the first electric guitar produced commercially. Due to inconsistencies in early Rickenbacker serial numbers an exact date can not be determined on this guitar but features place it between 1935 and no later than mid 1975 when the pickup was patented. The original unique horseshoe pickup support is labeled as patent pending. It also has all of the desirable features of the first design of this model including 1 and 1/2 inch magnet, string trough body design (underwhich earliest pat. date is imbossed),Bakelite body , bolt on neck,five chrome decorative plates covering cavities in body, Rickenbacher Electro Los Angeles brass nameplate on headstock, one octagon shaped bakelite knob on treble side, jack on bass side,  chrome plated Grover tuners, black tolex case with green plush lining and relatively low serial number(B478) This guitar and case are in excellent condition and could be considered as near mint if not for some light scratches on chrome and the typical bowing of the neck as is found in virtually all made of bakelite. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and the tuners look as if they came off the assembly line yesterday. All electronics work properly and the guitar sounds great.
