This is a one owner 1990 model Rickenbacker 360/12 string model with upgrades.
Rarely played in the past few years except for some recordings. So, it's time to go.
It is in very good condition for 10 years old with only very minor exceptions.
The original pot-metal tailpiece broke a few years ago and was replaced by a much better Rickenbacker part. It is chrome plated brass for improved sustain and it is much, much easier to restring now. (The original tailpiece is nice to look at but is a HUGE pain to restring.) The base for the original tailpiece is still in the case pocket and will be included along with a set of tools and the original polish cloth.
The smallest knob has been rewired as a master volume control. This allows the player to adjust the 2 pickups' volumes to taste in the middle toggle switch position and adjust the output with the small knob.
And the small octave strings are switched to the more traditional setup of having them on top of their lower octave strings. This allows a much more pleasing sound and tons more "jangle" than Ric's tradition of having the bass strings on top of the higher pitched octaves.
The case shows wear consistent with an instrument this age. Several nicks and small tears in the tolex but nothing unusual or extravagant. Everything is intact and all latches work as they should. The lining is in good condition with only the strap for the compartment door snap being torn (see pics).
Even though this has been treated very well, it has seen a few club gigs and therefore has the expected pick swirls on top. Also, there are very minor scratches that wouldn't show up on camera.
The only things really worth mentioning in the way of wear are a light scratch on the top. Not small but light enough that it should polish out without much effort. Also there is a finish crack/check on the top but under the pickguard (see pics). And a couple of dimples on the back. I tried my very best to photograph these things. They are all marks that can't be seen from a few feet away. NO buckle rash.
There is light fret wear under the plain strings on the open position frets. Extremely light finish checking at a couple of places around the neck binding and body binding as well. But nothing on the order of some other Rics I've seen listed as being in GREAT condition. Seriously, anyone would be hard pressed to find these "flaws" upon first inspection.
The neck is straight and it plays great. And it sounds better than stock due to changing the string order and tailpiece replacement.
This guitar will please even the most discriminating Ric or 12 string fan. Trust me, this would beat any stock Ric in a side-by-side comparison. The high octaves really ring!
Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
Thanks for looking.
